About
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
1 Peter 3:15
Here’s a bit about me.
I didn’t grow up in a Christian home. I didn’t even grow up in a stable one, though I’ve traveled far enough by now to know I was blessed in what I had. I was dabbling in drugs and alcohol at the age most kids learn algebra, dropped out of high school shortly after starting it, and generally nosedived into the world without a thought for consequences. In fact, I’m pretty sure joining the Army is the only reason I ended up on the (somewhat) straight and narrow, reasonably successful, and free of felony.
Regarding Christ I was a skeptic at best, with a habit of picking apart the faith of others. Even later, when the ‘wisdom’ of age settled the sentiment into a sort of simmering disdain, I’d just resolved to live and let live – with a lot of quiet judgment. Honestly, I was a jerk. I was accountable only to myself, convinced of my own decency, and drowning in sin.
When I was 34, a conversation on a park bench and a few well-written books changed my life, setting me on a journey that ultimately led to Jesus. It took a while, but I’m here now and determined to equip the faithful with a strong defense against the old me. I think we can do that by building a firm foundation of answers; rock-solid reasons for the hope that is in us. So equipped, we might even trade doubt for belief and make warriors of skeptics.
